This happened 5 years ago at Roosevelt University in Chicago. I was teaching drama at the Theatre Conservatory there. I was 31 years old,had never been married and had never, ever had sex with anyone, hard as that may be to belelieve. He was an easy learner and followed my directing meticulously. There were many days when he put in extra time, late in the day, to get my suggestions and perfect his part.
Shauntee was a tall,handsome, muscular young man, well-mannered and very respectful. As we worked together on the play there seemed to be a mutual magnetism between us. For me it began to be a strong physical attraction — something I had never felt before.
One afternoon,close to 5:30 P.M., we had been working with the cast, and after all the rest had left, Shauntee stayed behind to ask me a few more questions. I was standing near a piano on the stage, and he was seated on the piano bench. Then, as he arose, and I thought he was leaving, he turned and looked at me intensely, and then suddenly we were embaracing each other and he was smothering me with his eager kisses. I found myself reciprocating as he hugged me closer and closer to his body. And after ten or fifteen minutes of this, we both started taking off our clothing there in the middle of the stage, until we both were absolutely naked. I suppose we could have been seen by anyone walking into the theater, but fortunately that didn’t happen — and even if it did, we just didn’t care at the time, because we were so enthralled with our lovemaking. Our bodies were joined tightly and firmly together. We would never have stopped. He continued to have several orgasms, and I did too. I screamed his name out loud each time it occurred and urged him not to stop.
After that initial lovemaking on stage, we sat on a sofa there on stage and rested, and then continued there on the couch, for probably an hour or more. We couldn’t get enough of each other.
It was, of course, very foolish and reckless. We had not used any protection, and Shauntee had absolutely left all of his love potion within my body. Several weeks later I learned that I was pregnant. We talked about our future together and concluded that despite our 11 year age difference, we were truly in love with each other. And so we were married, in a very private ceremony, attended only by close family and friends. My parents were both deceased, and Shauntee lived with his Father, whose wife had left him years before for another man. So there were a few cousins and friends — and of course the cast from “A Raisin In The Sun.”
Nine months later I gave birth to twin sons. They are beautiful 4 year olds now. I still drama teach part-time. Shauntee did not continue in Theatre Arts, but went on and got his B.A. degree and a Masters and now teaches history at Roosevelt University.
