My boyfriend, Todd, has a great sense of humor, but sometimes it gets a little out of hand — like last year at Christmas. We were over at our house on Christmas Eve, opening Christmas gifts with my parents. My younger brother, age 18, was there, too, along with one of my Grandmothers. During the gift opening, he handed me this present, wrapped in gold foil with a red bow on it. I opened it, and to my embarrassment, there was a DVD, with a naked couple on the cover and entitled, “Creative Sexual Positions.” I was appalled. Todd laughed,and my brother had a big smile on his face, but they were the only ones who thought it was funny. My Dad and Mom were completely shocked and began to ask questions about whether the two of us were having sex together.Todd was 23 at the time and I was 21, so we were old enough, and in fact had had sex quite a few times, but we’d never told anyone.It was an awkward moment. Actually more than a moment. My Grandmother left the room and my Dad was pretty upset. We finally ended up telling them that, yes, we had had sex already, and that eventually we intended to be married — after college — and so we thought it was O.K. My Mother, after getting over the initial shock, said that she certainly hoped we were using protection, which we said we were. But the whole thing kind of put a damper on our celebration of Christmas, and I didn’t speak to Todd for several days, and we didn’t have sex for well over a month after that. But, then, I began to watch the video and saw some very interesting things, which we started to try — and now I love following its instruction.I don’t know what to expect from Todd this Christmas. I kind of hope it’s an engagement ring, but he’ll probably come up with some sort of sex toy!
